Amelia's Lunar 4th Month Ceremony : 5 Nov 2006
According to Hokkien's tradition, baby will have a simple ceremony at their 4th month to kick start their journey of food beyond milk. My mum-in-law cooked a bowl of mee suan with chicken, fish, mushroom and "cong" (to symbolise clever) to feed her. Amelia was frowning at her 1st taste of food other than her milk milk. Thereafter she seemed to enjoy the adventure and was licking quite happily away including the biscuit which is supposed to be meant for "keeping the saliva". Yummy yummy :P

Wow! Didn't know there are such ritual for babies! What is the "cong" in the mee suan about? Is "cong" means worms? eeeer....
Btw, do u know that bb should not be given additive like salt when they are so young. So stick to bb food and cereal if you try to wean her now. But our PD said that it is better to start @ 5-6 months cos fear of allegry.
"cong" as in the spring onions lah. Huh? Should avoid salt is it? Shall take note and tell mum if she wants to try cooking porridge for her later.
oops.. so its spring onions! Not worms lah! hai yaya... aunty laura is getting old liao! not thinking start ya
well, i've juz check with the forum group and pending reply. Will let you know, cos i read it somewhere that salt is also not recommended in bbies food.
in fact, there are more articles about sugar avoidance in bbies food rather than salt! Cos sugar and anything sour or bitter are the basic acquire tastes of bbies before there were born. So expert would advise on giving sweet stuff to babies cos they simply love sweet thing and if you were to consistently give them sweet stuff, this is how some children have sweet tooth!
wooooo good good can start to eat wang zai xiao man tou! :d haha sumhow i feel leqi reali noes how to pose for pixs leh shes always lookin at e camera so professional hehe :)
Mommy Alice, someone shared with me that bbies shld not be given salt and sugar leh! I know sugar shld be avoided for the calorie thing. But there was this mom who share her food prep for her 19mths old boy, she says give natural food. No salt and sugar! Maybe we shld introduce these additive to them much later ... when they are older and ready for more interestingly tasting food :D
hello mummy egg.. yah.. babies shouldn't start on anything semi-solid till after 6 mths actually. So actually any food besides her milk is a NO-NO.. cos baby younger than 6 mths has not dev a strong digestive system and are v prone to allergies. So pls stick to jus milk.. if u want, can intro cereal jus once a day into her diet. And the main reason is jus to get her used to spoon feeding.
I only started cereal after Nat turned 6 months old.
